Share the Love, Share the Pain…

After two weeks of inactivity we are back today with not one, but two new projects (with another exciting surprise waiting around the corner). The first one, Cotton by Kita Konno, is a manga that I have wanted to pick up for a long time. We are rather fortunate to have boke as the translator for this mini series (it’s only 4 chapters long). The modest, yet nonetheless beautiful story about an unusual friendship between two young women should appeal to both yuri and non-yuri fans out there. Moreover, Kita Konno’s delicate artwork adds a very personal and charming touch to each page of this sweet little gem. It’s also interesting to note that Cotton was originally published as dôjinshi and later collected into a paperback volume.

Our second new project, on the other hand, is hardly something you could call “sweet.” If I had to find a word to describe Seizon - LifE I would choose “intense.” In this gripping trilogy that sometimes comes close to a thriller, the reader is thrown into the nightmare of a man whose life is about to end as he realizes what he misses the most: his family. Both a bad father and husband, he seeks redemption by trying to find the murderer of his daughter. Seizon - Life is one of those manga that take us straight to the heart of human emotions and that you wish would never come to an end.

I would like to use this opportunity to officially welcome Boris, the translator, and Chojiki, the proofreader, as our new staff members. May they stay with us for a long time. :)

Finally, we have a new poll. It’s a bit more relevant to the group’s future than the previous two so make sure to give your vote if you care about the matter.

  1. Thank you so much again! I can’t wait to read “Cotton”!! ^_^ And although “Seizon - Life”’s art doesn’t appeal too much to me, the story sounds interesting so I want to give it a try.

Congratulations to Boris and Chojiki! I can’t wait to see their contributes~

  2. Seizon -Life is being scanlated = AWESOME. Kaiji Kawaguchi manga is always good fun.

  3. Yaaay! Welcome Boris and Chojiki!!! I’ve been visiting this site at least once a day to see if there were updates. LOL, I’m so glad that it came. :D

  4. Oooo new series! I must say I’m starting to really get into yuri as a genre, and for none of the reasons I initially thought I would. S-L seems quite good as well.
But what’s this suprise I’m hearing about? A huge new series? Histore perhapse? Whatever it is, your taste is pretty much dead-on in the past, so I can’t wait for the next update. Keep it up!

  5. A sincere thanks for releasing Konno Kita’s Cotton. :)

  6. @Huff: LOL, it wouldn’t be a surprise if we just picked up the next best thing from Afternoon now, would it? Besides, we can’t do “Historie” because it’s already being scanlated by Afternoon Illusions. See http://a-illusions.kakyoku.org/Scanlations/ongoing.html

Good luck getting hold of those chapters, though. ^^

  8. Damn, it’s already been scanned?! I see what you mean about getting them though. Hopefully another site will host it eventually. Still, with all the hype and praise around the series, I had to try…

  9. Wheee… Finally able to read Life. I tried myself to get it going few years ago but failed to get a translator for it.
    Nice job.

  10. Yo, Hello to everyone out there! I just thought to Introduce myself to everyone and say that I’ll do my best to promote and maybe even further Kotonoha’s excellent work.

Any personal stuff… well recently someone asked me why “Chojiki” as a name… it’s a made-up name; made-up out of:

    超(Cho)=Super
    磁気(Jiki)=Magnetism

    So you get Chojiki!!!

Well back to work, expect great things from me!

  19. Totally unrelated to this posting’s topic, but it looks like Warren Ellis has linked to our site (again): http://www.warrenellis.com/?p=2505
    Thank you, Mr. Ellis!

Gotta finish “Milk Closet” quickly and work on the next volume of “Soil.” ^^

  20. Ah, fantastic-! Cotton was just wonderful - it’s nice to find a yuri that’s neither loli nor so cutesy it makes you feel ill. This is why I love Kotonoha (& Lililicious) so much. Thanks!

    ellie_i May 11, 2006 @ 1:53 pm

  21. Chapter 4 of Cotton! What a nice surprise to wake up too!

    Damn, can’t use IRC…
But it figures Ellis linked SOIL. Out of curiosity, what did he link before?
Thanks for the new series though. Cotton was a nice little short, and S-Life looks like it’s just getting started.
