Love My Life Live-Action
As some of you may know, Ebine Yamaji’s manga Love My Life will be adapted as a live-action film. The movie, which stars Rei Yoshii as Ichiko and Asami Imajuku (who incidentally also played a role in the movie adaptation of Kiriko Nananan’s Blue) as Eri, is scheduled to open in Japan on December 9th. I thought fans of the manga might be interested in seeing the trailer that is available on Youtube and—in much higher quality—on the official website, so here it is:
Doesn’t look too bad, although I have to admit that I had a different picture of the real Ichiko in mind, but I guess that’s only normal. If done right, this could become the Japanese answer to Saving Face, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I for one look forward to it.
I genuinly look forward to this. It may be a step for culutural diversity in Japan, maybe even more so that Saving Face? Although, I think Saving Face is diffrent because of its setting, Chinese in America. This one will be in Japan with Japanese. As I’m pondering about re-reading the manga I think this is something to definately be excited about…Gotta love those kiss scenes…

Blue has a movie?!?!? Man am I behind on things. Anyways I’m sure LML will translate well onto a screen. Too bad these aren’t the kind of Japanese films to get released in the US…

What to say? Amazing! I really want to watch it! Right now I’m downloading the manga version, so I can understand the whole story, but sincerely I’d love to watch the movie too… It’s really sad we can’t have a chance to watch it unless we buy the dvd(which is rather spensive). Anyway, thanks a lot for bringing this information, I’m starting to fall in love with this website ^^

Hmm… interesting. Well, let’s all wish for the best: that the movie doesn’t alter too much from the book and that the gay and lesbian overtones aren’t toned down.

Love My Life was a story I could really relate with, and I’m very glad they’re making it into a film. I’m not sure how LBGTQ people are treated or perceived in Japanese culture, but this is a great opportunity to show that love is boundless.
