Kiichi Returns!

  • Kiichi!! Volume 1 Chapter 4-8
    Now that Historie is on a temporary hiatus, we need another strong seinen title to fill the gap. It’s still difficult to judge Kiichi’s potential, that’s why we’re planning to pepper you with releases to win you over in the shortest time. You better be ready for it!

  • The Hour of the Mice Volume 2 Chapter 16-18
    These 3 chapters bring the second volume to a thrilling close and introduce another important twist to the story.
  • Shigurui Volume 2 Chapter 7
    We are lucky to have a new translator, Nicolas, joining us to help get this project moving faster. Rest assured that we’re doing our best to bring you more chapters of this excellent series.

    Also, by hiatus do you mean until the new volume comes out in Japan or that the manga itself is taking a break in Japan?

  4. @3: Historie is still ongoing in Japan. We are just waiting for the 5th volume to be released so we can continue the scanlation.

  11. Must be the first time i was not getting enthusiastic from an update. Kiichi and Shigurui are the only two series I do not follow and I bought Hour of the mice already up to volume 4 during my last visit to Japan.
    Nevertheless keep up the good work!

  15. I have vol. 1 to 8 of Kiichi (French translation). The first two ones are great, volumes 3 and 4 are ok, and volumes 5-8 are good but it’s a bit different since it’s when Kiichi is older.

  18. Ahh, very good! Very good, indeed! I was recently told flat out by one of my authors that, “You simply must read Hourou Musuko, and no, you can’t refuse this one, you owe me!” Having done so, I feel cheated not one whit. It manages character development gracefully and the pace is very possibly perfect. The blend of visual and textual hints can sometimes be difficult to follow, unfortunately, and though there are times when you can ask yourself, “Who said that?” and not have it really matter, this isn’t consistent, so I would guess it’s rooted in the language use. This unfortunately means there may have been a bit lost in the translation, I suppose, but I can’t know for certain. My reading ability being what it is, I’m just not capable of a volume of this calibre. But I can spot awkward lines (near the beginning, I recall wrinkling my nose at a couple things, perhaps). At least, before the characters steal my heart (what’s more, I empathize with a few of them, which only makes it better for my enjoyment, but bad for the professional eye). If only manga this good was licensed for distribution, perhaps it would be taken more seriously as an art form?

    So, thank you, all involved, for making this such a pleasant read. You can be sure I’ll be eagerly awaiting the next installment (though I may chide you for your grammar next time :).
