@3: Historie is still ongoing in Japan. We are just waiting for the 5th volume to be released so we can continue the scanlation.

The Hour of the Mice is great!
Must be the first time i was not getting enthusiastic from an update. Kiichi and Shigurui are the only two series I do not follow and I bought Hour of the mice already up to volume 4 during my last visit to Japan.
Nevertheless keep up the good work!

I have vol. 1 to 8 of Kiichi (French translation). The first two ones are great, volumes 3 and 4 are ok, and volumes 5-8 are good but it’s a bit different since it’s when Kiichi is older.

Ahh, very good! Very good, indeed! I was recently told flat out by one of my authors that, “You simply must read Hourou Musuko, and no, you can’t refuse this one, you owe me!” Having done so, I feel cheated not one whit. It manages character development gracefully and the pace is very possibly perfect. The blend of visual and textual hints can sometimes be difficult to follow, unfortunately, and though there are times when you can ask yourself, “Who said that?” and not have it really matter, this isn’t consistent, so I would guess it’s rooted in the language use. This unfortunately means there may have been a bit lost in the translation, I suppose, but I can’t know for certain. My reading ability being what it is, I’m just not capable of a volume of this calibre. But I can spot awkward lines (near the beginning, I recall wrinkling my nose at a couple things, perhaps). At least, before the characters steal my heart (what’s more, I empathize with a few of them, which only makes it better for my enjoyment, but bad for the professional eye). If only manga this good was licensed for distribution, perhaps it would be taken more seriously as an art form?
So, thank you, all involved, for making this such a pleasant read. You can be sure I’ll be eagerly awaiting the next installment (though I may chide you for your grammar next time

So, the last update was three months ago. Is the group dead now?
They’ve gone a long time between releases before, but they eventually came back. I’m pretty sure there were *some* signs of life, though. I was planning on donating, but I’d like to see some sort of activity on the site, first. (Aside from Propecia spam on the forum, that is.)

err, i meant 2008. at the end of 2008, they said they would stop…although they did stop way earlier.
Yeah, they said something about it probably being their last year back in January 2008, but then they asked for new editors and such. I hope some other group will take over Hourou Musuko.
It’s one thing to quit, but they could at least let people know so that their series aren’t left to rot.
Hmmm… I wish the group would come back soon. I so do love many of their projects.

Well, I got tired of waiting so I found some raws and tried translating it from where Kotonoha left off (chapter 39). So here’s chapter 39 and 40 translated!

I was e-mailing with Nomad Soul about getting the final two volumes of Chokotto Sister released. I fully translated both volumes a couple of months ago. Last I heard he was nearly done editing Volume 7, but that was about a month ago, and I haven’t been able to get in touch with him for the past several weeks. I understand he’s a busy person and all, but initially he was returning my e-mails within a day or two, but now I’ve sent him two in the past 3-4 weeks with no response to either one yet.
I would post this in the forum, but registration is disabled.

mangaproject went away, omanga died, bandofhawk folded, mangascreener on long hiatus, and now kotonoha… MS and Kotonoha are the best all around scanlation groups that cover the refined and offbeat series. I love you guys!

i’m sure kotonoha has their reasons… but i miss coming coming home, from a long day of work, tired, girlfriend-less, and borderline depression, to come home and check for updates on kotonoha, and when i finally see a release for Girlfriend, i know the long wait was worth it, i know ill have more to look forward to, but more importantly i know today, will be a good day…

It is true about the Hourou Musuko releases … well I dunno I’m just glad I’ll get to read the rest of the story. Also I wish someone would give the Kiichi project another go … I want to keep reading the story so bad!
There was a message on the forum – a month ago – about the scripts for Hourou Musuko being done up to chapter 41, and that an editor was needed, but nothing went up on the main page.

It seems like up to chapter 59 has been released by “Anon”. I’ve just read chapter 34 and it seems pretty good. (I’m not sure if that “The Transexual Son” joke was in the original, though…I admit that I laughed.)
I’ve only found it on One Manga so far. I’ve been looking for a torrent or something since I prefer to read from Irfanview.
