Business as Unusual

We had more releases planned for today, but in light of the latest news out of Japan I felt like we should keep things on the brief side for now. So, enjoy the new chapters of God’s Child and Ran to Haiiro no Sekai and check back next week for more Gunjo, Soil, Paranoia Street, and Happy-Go-Lucky Days. Hopefully, the worst will be over by then.

  1. No offense but, what I would’ve done is NOT release something as tetric as more God’s Child.

If people don’t like it, they shouldn’t read it. Simple enough. :)

      • Well that’s not what I meant, I’m trying to say that in light of the tragic disaster you shouldn’t toss out something so dark and nasty.

As (beautifully) grotesque as God’s Child may be, I don’t understand why you feel it shouldn’t have been released. In no way do the two chapters released today (or any of the previous 5, for that matter) refer to any of the various types of disasters that have recently devastated Japan. If your point is that certain genres are inappropriate after a tragedy, one could just as easily argue the opposite – that Kotonoha shouldn’t release anything lighthearted so soon after the recent tragedies in Japan, as people should be focusing on more serious matters.

I’d say Nomad Soul’s response still holds – if you feel that it isn’t appropriate to read darker series in the wake of a major disaster, you can hold off from downloading and reading the chapters for whatever amount of time you deem sufficient.

    • I love it! And nothing, not even thousands of glowing radioactive dead people in Japan will stop me from reading it. To soon?

  2. I just read God’s Child and it was very interesting.
Since “Lord of the Flies” and “Damien” were both required reading material, those popped up in my mind as I read God’s Child. The artwork goes really well with the creepy plot.
Err..I really don’t think releasing new chapters of a manga like God’s Child should be related to Japan’s current tragedy. What’s the point? If a reader is disturbed by something, then don’t read it. Save it for another time.
I don’t think the scanalators were being insensitive, they even cut the releases short.
“glowing radioactive dead people”<-THAT is insensitive. Definitely much too soon. =.='
Humor's a good thing but for now we should all just sit tight and wait it out.

    • Hear Hear.. ^__^

Thanks a lot for the release, Nomad. :D

    • There is to much tragedy in the world right now, so I’m getting desensitized, but I mean, what can I do, cry in a country that is in economic demise?, send money that I don’t have?, I did my part, I joined a facebook group like the rest of us sheep, seen some pictures, read some news, and that’s it.
I mean there are people in Haiti that are still in trouble, and people in Libya are being hunted like animals by a mad dictator and Japan’s earthquake is diminishing that fact. There is tragedy all around the world, focusing on just one tragedy is not humanistic in nature (by my opinion).

      • You yourself just admitted that you’re desensitized by the media(many of us are, myself included?). However, don’t let that become an excuse.
I’m not saying that everyone should bawl their eyes out or start a support group..ridiculous. The world’s too big, it’s not like we’re all affected by every single tragedy that strikes.
In the end; it’s still up to you, as an individual, whether or not you show sympathy, compassion, or nothing at all.
I just dislike it when others choose to use others pain as an ‘opportunity’ to crack a joke or twist the knife. Take for example, some Chinese micro-bloggers on Japan’s recent events.
I’m not psychic but I’m assuming that you didn’t give it a second thought or had malicious intent when you posted your first response..who knows?
In the future, at least show some respect.

        • I was awake for thirty hours when I wrote that as usual, but I still think it’s funny (but then again I slept only for a few hours since then). When tragedy strikes, sometimes, we only have humour to rely on, I mean, in human history there are more dead people than alive ones.
Don’t think I’m one of those people who live sheltered lives and don’t know shit about life and death, I went trough war, I’ve seen dead people, I’ve seen tragedy unfold in front of my young eyes, you don’t forget things like that, you just get used to it as time passes by.
Death is a part of life, to fear death, to make it a taboo is just silly.
I make fun of life, I make fun of death, that’s just the way my brain is wired.

          • Didn’t mean to have a little spat.
            -hands out caffeinated drinks-
I’m not usually a very confrontational person but it hit a nerve. @A@
I had no such thoughts about you though, it’s the internet. <.< Pretty pointless to judge unless I know someone personally.

Sorry Nomad & htoleso for disrupting the peace and elongating the response section.

          • Agreed ^__^

p.s.I don’t drink coffee or take any other drugs I think I have a mild case of PTSD

    • Nomad Soul says:

All right, guys. Let’s not make this about us. Just acknowledge that something tragic has happened and deal with it the way you think it’s appropriate. But again, this is NOT ABOUT US.

  3. If you want disrespectful, try comments such as “Meh, no One Piece this week because of the earthquake” >_>
Honestly though, it’s not like Kotonoha’s releasing some Junji Ito end-of-the-world manga so I don’t see the relationship to the current situation.
PS: If you’re online to be indignant about it obviously you’re not one of those affected by the tragedy…

  4. Well, I forgot in my above post to say thanks for the most recent chapters of God’s Child, so I offer my gratitude in this one. Truly a tremendous pair of chapters – the vivid deconstruction of The Last Supper and Communion is simply breathtaking in the scope of its depravity.

Also, somebody else asked about this a while back and never got a response, but I thought I’d try – is there a reason Paranoia Street isn’t listed among the ongoing series on the projects page? It also doesn’t seem to have a project page of its own…

    • I’ve noticed already it sometimes takes a while before a seperate project page is made. I think there’s not much more of a reason than just not having gotten around to do it or whatever, and since there’s more paranoia coming up apparently, my assumptive mind says no need to worry x)

  5. man, I just LOVE God’s Child. Thanks guys, thanks for this amazing manga. *patiently awaiting the rest of the chapters*.

  6. I read the first release of God’s Child fully and found out its the first thing I have ever being actually disturbed by even and I’m a person who usually enjoys reading this kind of stuff.
Its weird I feel like shoudln’t read the rest but I have this morbid curiousity to.

Anyway thanks for Ran to Haiiro no Sekai. I think ill read the rest of God’s Child eventually.

  7. I’d like to ask if Meguru is a dead project?
